Editorial Review:
Album Description: Bringing the timeless lyrics and melodies of iconic super group ABBA to movie audiences, this summer is the season for Mamma Mia! Meryl Streep leads an all-star cast in the feature-film adaptation of the beloved musical that has been seen by more than 30 million people in 160 cities and 8 languages around the world. Meryl Streep plays an independent, single mother and owner of a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island, about to let go of her spirited daughter whom she's raised alone. But the young bride has secretly invited some guests of her own three men from her mom's past, one of whom is the girl's biological father. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled, in this warm and hilarious adaptation of one of the most popular musicals ever written.

The stage production of Mamma Mia is still touring the country and I am a big fan of Meryl Streep as an actress (and have always been surprised at how well she can sing). This is one of the few films I have seen of hers in which she came across as not being really in the role and it being forced. The singing of the ABBA hits, with a few exceptions, did not do justice to the songs. The casting was wrong and it could have used a better director. It didn't look as if the movie was filmed on location ... Read More

I love this music, and the soundtrack is a lot of fun. However, I am not of fan of Brosnan's voice, and while I love Meryl Streep and her voice, I think she was miscast. While I usually do enjoy covers, I think in this case, listening to the original is better.Voice Lessons To Go Volume 1: Vocalize and Breath

I love this music. It's so uplifting and hard not to sing to. Some of the song's sound better than ABBA. However the 2 with Pierce Brosnan singing, stick with ABBA. Still a fun CD to keep in your car and sing loud to while cruising.

The movie soundtrack album was released in the summer, slightly before the release of the movie. The CD was released in Sweden and the UK on July 7, 2008 (and in the US on July 8, 2008). This album actually went to #1 in the USA, and in many other places. The movie soundtrack was actually more successful than the musical's original cast album, which has tended to sell at a slower pace in most of the markets it had been released. The soundtrack has sold over 4,000,000 physical copies worldwide including ... Read More

This CD doesn't have a couple of the songs sung in the movie, but the songs it does have are fabulous to sing along with in the car, at home, you name it. If you've seen the movie, you'll definitely want to get this.
